Telegram Restored to Apple App Store Following Brief Suspension Over Policy Violation

Messaging application Telegram was temporarily removed from Apple’s App Store worldwide following an internal safety review by the tech giant. However, the application was restored within hours after Telegram addressed the policy violations.

According to statements provided to media outlets, Apple confirmed that the app was briefly taken down after a compliance review identified illegal content violating strict guidelines prohibiting Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). An Apple spokesperson stated that the platform was restored once the developer deleted the prohibited content and permanently banned the offending account.

During the brief outage, users attempting to download or update the application through Apple's marketplace were met with error messages. Existing users who already had the application installed on iOS devices reported that messaging functions continued to operate normally.

Telegram acknowledged the resolution in a statement confirming that the platform is again fully searchable and available for download on the App Store. Addressing the brief removal, the company lightheartedly posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated".

The incident reflects heightened regulatory scrutiny facing social and messaging platforms regarding content moderation and user safety compliance across international app marketplaces.
