Protest At Jantar Mantar: Foreign Medical Graduates Demand Fair Marking And Transparency In FMGE Results

In a major demonstration in New Delhi on Monday, August 3, 2026, foreign-trained medical graduates staged a protest at Jantar Mantar under the banner of the All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA). The protesting doctors expressed strong anger and frustration over the recently declared Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2026 results, alleging serious evaluation irregularities, unexpected score drops, and severe technical glitches during the exam.

The protest comes after official results revealed that only 12.77 percent of candidates managed to clear the exam-the lowest qualifying percentage in recent years. Candidates pointed out that unannounced changes to the paper pattern, such as introducing video-based questions and lengthier clinical questions, along with system crashes and uncomfortably hot exam centers, severely affected student performance and ate into their allotted time.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), is a mandatory screening test for Indian citizens who complete their MBBS abroad to obtain a license to practice medicine in India. Raising slogans and holding placards, the protesting doctors demanded that the Health Ministry establish an independent expert committee to review the exam's difficulty level, release official answer keys and response sheets, and ensure a fair re-evaluation process for all affected candidates.
