RTI Activist Demands Financial Probe Into CJP Founder’s Father And Pledged ₹1 Crore Legal Defence Fund

A Surat-based Right to Information (RTI) activist, Amit Tiwari, has filed formal complaints seeking an official investigation into the finances of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke’s father. In his petition, Tiwari raised questions regarding how Dipke’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, who is a retired Maharashtra government employee, managed to fund his son’s expensive higher education abroad. The activist argued that the financial standing of a retired government official funding foreign studies warrants a thorough examination by investigative authorities.

In addition to questioning Dipke's family finances, Tiwari has also written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the legal defence fund pledged by senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal. Highlighting that the CJP is an unregistered entity operating under the name of a political party, Tiwari urged the ECI to verify whether the organization is registered under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, before receiving or managing public donations and pledged funds.

Furthermore, Tiwari approached the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), asking tax authorities to examine whether the ₹1 crore legal defence fund pledged by Sibal would attract an 18 percent GST charge. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal had previously announced the ₹1 crore contribution to aid CJP protesters facing police FIRs and detentions following demonstrations over the NEET paper leak controversy. Tiwari's letters demand strict legal and financial scrutiny into both the unregistered party's funding mechanisms and the tax liabilities of the pledged legal aid.
