Senior TDP Leader Pattabhi Ram Highlights Massive GST Growth in Andhra Pradesh Through Economic Revival

Andhra Pradesh has recorded massive, consistent growth in GST collections over the past two years, said TDP senior leader Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram. The state has consistently outpaced the national average growth rate, recording double-digit increases in net GST revenues and reaching record-high monthly collections, he said, reflecting genuine commercial revival, rising demand, and restored business confidence across rural and urban markets.

He attributed this growth to cleaner administration, plugging of tax leakages, and technology-driven reforms. AI-based data scrutiny, automated return verification, and smoother IGST settlements have checked fake billing while expanding the active tax base, he noted. By ending bureaucratic harassment, easing compliance for small shopkeepers, and resuming stalled development projects, the government has built a stable environment where businesses voluntarily pay taxes, he said.

Strong growth in own-tax revenues is vital for funding welfare commitments without sinking into unsustainable debt, he explained. Higher internal collections give the state exchequer the financial muscle to run welfare programs like pensions while funding capital expenditure such as roads, schools, and irrigation canals. Pattabhi Ram asserted that the sustained two-year GST surge proves transparent governance, fiscal discipline, and investor-friendly policies can generate reliable revenue to support both infrastructure and the poor.
