Andhra Pradesh opens fresh pension registrations for lakhs of families as the Centre sanctions over four hundred crore rupees to transform regional tourist hubs

The Andhra Pradesh government has officially widened the scope of its monthly welfare distribution under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme, inviting fresh applications from September 7 to 16 at Swarna Gramam and Swarna Ward centres across the state. The welfare initiative already provides monthly financial assistance to nearly 62 lakh (6.19 million) beneficiaries with a budget of ₹2,694 crore every month, offering ₹4,000 for senior citizens and widows, ₹6,000 for persons with disabilities, and up to ₹15,000 for individuals battling severe, chronic health conditions. The ten-day application window will be followed by scrutiny, ground verification, and budget allocations by late September so that genuine applicants can be added in phases. Alongside this welfare drive, the Telugu Desam Party is holding a two-day leadership training conclave starting Monday at the party's central headquarters in Mangalagiri, bringing together legislators, constituency in-charges, and public representatives to streamline grassroots governance, public outreach, and administrative coordination.
In a major financial boost for the state's tourism and pilgrimage infrastructure, the central government has approved ₹419.30 crore under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and PRASAD schemes. The approved funds will go toward large-scale infrastructure and amenity upgrades across four key regional destinations: tribal eco-tourism and Borra Caves experience facilities in Araku, heritage development at the historic Arasavalli Sun Temple in Srikakulam, modern business and convention facilities at Gannavaram near Vijayawada airport, and expanded pilgrim amenities at the sacred Vedagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Nellore district. These projects aim to drive regional employment, improve transit facilities, and place Andhra Pradesh's cultural and scenic circuits firmly on the international tourist map.
On the organizational and public front, Human Resources Development and IT Minister Nara Lokesh arrived at Tirupati airport to a grand reception from hundreds of party leaders and grassroots workers. Following his arrival, he personally called on the grieving family members of former NTR Trust CEO Adusumalli Gopinath and veteran TDP leader Cherukuri Vasanthakumar to pay homage to their public service and convey his heartfelt condolences. Simultaneously in Nellore district, the Swarna Bharat Trust kicked off its 25th silver jubilee celebrations at its main campus in Venkatachalam. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu joined the celebrations as chief guests, touring the Soma Skill Centre at Akshara Vidyalaya and addressing trainees to highlight the trust's quarter-century of work in rural youth employment, healthcare, and women's self-help initiatives.
