Anant Ambani donates twenty-five electric buses worth nearly twenty-eight crore rupees to boost green pilgrimage transport in Tirupati

Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani has donated 25 electric buses worth ₹27.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), marking the single largest private contribution to the temple's green mobility drive. Each electric bus is valued at roughly ₹1.1 crore and will be added to the hill shrine's transport fleet to provide cleaner, quieter, and completely free rides for millions of pilgrims visiting the sacred town every year. The new fleet helps TTD step up its long-term plan to replace traditional fuel-powered vehicles and reduce air pollution across the Tirumala hills.
Rather than just handing over the vehicles, the donation covers the complete working setup needed to keep electric transport running smoothly. Reliance has committed to paying the salaries of 50 trained bus drivers and installing dedicated EV charging stations inside the temple complex. By funding both the drivers and the charging points, the initiative solves two major hurdles that usually hold back electric fleet operations, allowing TTD to run the buses immediately without extra financial burden.
During his visit, Anant Ambani followed traditional temple customs by wearing a simple white dhoti and golden zari shawl, attending the early morning Suprabhata Seva, and completing the customary mundan (tonsuring) ritual by shaving his head as an offering of devotion. He also announced that Reliance will help modernize TTD's SV Goshala by adopting the model used at Vantara, the group's animal welfare and conservation project in Gujarat. This upgrade will bring advanced veterinary care, better animal nutrition, and modern shelter facilities to ensure top-quality care for the temple’s sacred cows.
