Thailand is reducing visa-free stays for Indian tourists from 60 days to 30.

Starting September 15, 2026, Thailand will reduce its visa-free stay for Indian tourists and visitors from 59 other countries from 60 days down to 30 days. The good news is that Indian passport holders still enjoy visa-free entry, meaning you do not need to apply or pay for a visa in advance for a regular vacation.

The Thai government is making this change to tighten border security and prevent foreign visitors from misusing longer stays to work illegally or run unregistered businesses. For most tourists, this will make very little practical difference, since typical holiday trips to Bangkok, Phuket, or Pattaya last only one to two weeks.

Anyone arriving in Thailand on or before September 14, 2026, will still receive the original 60-day entry stamp, which remains valid even after the cutoff date. If you plan to travel for longer than 30 days after the new rule begins, you can request a one-time 30-day extension at a local immigration office or apply for an e-Visa before departing. Additionally, visa-free entries across land borders are now capped at twice per calendar year, though flights by air face no annual limit.
