Donald Trump Slams Backlash Against Data Centers Calling Them America Golden Goose
United States President Donald Trump has issued a strong statement opposing the growing public and political resistance against the construction of data centers across the country. Defending the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that data centers bring massive economic prosperity, employment, and tax revenue. He warned that if the country acts against these projects, citizens will be destroying a vital economic opportunity, saying that if they kill the golden goose, they will only have themselves to blame.
The statement comes at a time when local communities in several American states are pushing back against new artificial intelligence data hubs due to heavy electricity consumption, high water usage, and rising utility bills for nearby households. Responding to this local opposition, Trump argued that the only reason towns and cities would reject data center projects is if they want to end up backward and poor, while those that welcome them will enjoy significantly lower local taxes, strong financial growth, and abundant job creation.
Trump also brought international competition into the debate, claiming that rival global powers like China could not be happier with the internal American opposition stalling tech infrastructure development. Emphasising the need to maintain an American lead in global artificial intelligence, the US President urged leaders and citizens to let data reign and allow developers to build the necessary power and computational facilities without facing local administrative bans or project delays.
