"Permission Denied in London!" Revanth Reddy Aborts US Mission After Centre's Sudden Veto Over 'Political Angle'!

In a major political flashpoint between the Centre and the Telangana government, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was forced to abruptly cancel his official tour to the United States after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) denied political clearance. While the state government had sought timely protocol clearances for a joint tour of both the United Kingdom and the United States, the Centre approved only the UK leg and formally communicated the refusal of the US visit only after the official 'Telangana Rising' delegation had already landed in London. The MEA stated that the denial was issued because the proposed US itinerary was "not considered appropriate to the office held and the purpose of the visit," while the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed the official reason communicated was that “…clearance from a political angle is denied.”

The high-profile US visit was planned to pitch Hyderabad as a premier global education and skilling hub and ink key partnerships with Ivy League and leading global institutions, including Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern University. Expressing shock over the decision, Revanth Reddy remarked that nation-building, student aspirations, and youth skilling should remain strictly above partisan politics and elections. While the Chief Minister is cutting short his tour to return directly to Hyderabad on August 23 instead of flying to Boston and New York, he has instructed senior state officials in the delegation to proceed with scheduled institutional meetings and MoU signings.
