"Big Alert for SBI Customers!" State Bank Imposes Limit on Zero-Balance BSBD Accounts-Only 4 Free Transactions a Month, ₹15+GST Fee After Limit!

·

State Bank of India (SBI) has announced an important update for all Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) account holders, placing a strict limit on monthly transactions starting from October 1. Under the revised guidelines, customers holding these zero-balance accounts will be allowed only four free transactions and cash withdrawals every month. Once a customer crosses this monthly limit of four free transactions, the bank will charge a fee of ₹15 plus applicable GST for every single additional transaction.

Importantly for everyday users, this four-transaction quota does not apply to branch cash withdrawals alone; it covers all types of money debits across the board. This includes cash withdrawals from SBI and other bank ATMs, merchant payments, and all digital transactions such as UPI transfers, NEFT, and IMPS. Every time money moves out of the account-whether through a cash counter, an ATM machine, or a quick mobile scanner payment-it will be counted toward the monthly limit of four free debits.
