"₹95 Lakh Crore Gold Rush!" Massive Rally Adds $1.15 Trillion to Gold & Silver as US Treasury Doubles Bond Buybacks!
In a massive overnight rally across global commodity markets, over $1.15 trillion (nearly ₹95 lakh crore) in value was added to precious metals in just 12 hours after the US Department of the Treasury announced plans to at least double its government bond buyback operations. Gold prices surged by 3.21%-adding an estimated $1 trillion to its global market valuation as spot prices jumped above $4,460 per ounce-while Silver leaped 4.12%, adding over $151 billion to trade above $65 per ounce.
The sudden surge in precious metals was triggered by a sharp decline in US government bond yields and a falling US dollar after Treasury officials confirmed they will increase liquidity support buybacks for 10-year to 30-year bonds from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. When the US government steps in to repurchase its own bonds, bond prices rise and government yields fall. Because gold and silver are non-yielding assets that do not pay regular interest, falling bond yields drastically reduce the "opportunity cost" of holding bullion, prompting global institutional funds and central banks to aggressively pour capital into safe-haven metals.
