In a fiery statement posted on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump reignited the debate surrounding the 2020 presidential election, claiming that an ongoing review by the US Census Bureau has proven that over 24,000 noncitizens cast ballots illegally. Writing on his platform, Trump declared that out of the first 128 million voter records cross-matched against citizenship databases, tens of thousands of invalid votes were uncovered. Asserting that the tally will "explode" as the agency analyzes the next 32 million voter files, Trump used the claim to forcefully renew his demand for the US Congress to pass the SAVE America Act.
The data review examined administrative records across government agencies-including the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Social Security Administration, and state voter lists-searching for voters who lacked documented proof of citizenship or held green card records. Trump pointed to these figures to bolster his push for federal voter verification rules, coming shortly after he highlighted India's mandatory photo identification system following discussions involving Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

However, election data analysts and legal experts noted that 24,000 flagged records across 128 million voters represent less than 0.02% of the ballots examined.
