"No More Begging for Foreign Supplies!" PM Modi Drops Stern Independence Day Warning-"India Must Become Self-Reliant, Cannot Depend on Others!"

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India's 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered an uncompromising message on national security and economic sovereignty, declaring that India can no longer afford to remain dependent on foreign countries. Delivering his address on August 15, 2026, the Prime Minister warned that while cheap foreign goods may be easily accessible in global markets, relying on imports weakens domestic capabilities and leaves the nation dangerously exposed to global blackmail.

The Prime Minister pointed out that recent global conflicts have exposed how other countries can easily "weaponize" essential supply chains-from crude oil and critical minerals to microchips and deep technology. Stressing that electricity, semiconductors, and data infrastructure are now the lifeblood of the modern world, he noted that India has already launched major domestic semiconductor plants and accelerated its nuclear energy program with five new indigenous reactors to ensure that external geopolitical blockades can never bring India's economy to a standstill.

To power India toward becoming a fully developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by 2047, PM Modi unveiled a sweeping seven-pillar roadmap titled "Shakti Ki Saptadhara". This vision focuses on transforming India from a passive consumer market into a dominant global producer across seven strategic sectors: advanced manufacturing, agriculture and food exports, artificial intelligence and quantum tech, high-speed rail and Gati Shakti logistics, indigenous hypersonic defence production, green and blue energy, and global soft power.
